Flashback FRIDAY: A LOOK BACK AT 1977

Led by legendary Placer football coaches Bill Miller and Tom Johnson, the 1977 Hillmen captured the school’s first state championship, going.  Lead by a stifling defense and a strong offense,  the boys went undefeated (11-0), also winning Sierra Foothill League and section titles. Today we take a look back at that special group and some of the players who contributed to its success. 2011 Season Highlights

Flashback Friday! The 2011 Hillmen went 9-3, including routs of Lincoln, Center, and Patterson, and a hard fought victory over league rival Bear River. Running behind a stout offensive line, running backs Brad Spangler (1309 yds), Joe Mangino (1029 yards), and Michael Robinson (762 yards) led a high powered ground attack, which helped Placer rack up the most points in the PVL. Colton Davenport (105 tackles), Tony Suverkropp (113 tackles), Eddie Vanderdoes (8 sacks), and hard hitting safety Anthony Hess, anchored a defense which allowed the second fewest points in league play.  Check out some of the highlights below.
